Webb City has an extremely large industrial area under development. Stage One of this development has 180 acres. The city is building this development on a former Superfund site that has been remediated. Southwest Missouri was the home of many of the richest lead and zinc mines in the world at the turn of the last century. The residual waste left from those mines lay untouched for decades until the EPA instituted a massive cleanup.
The EPA and the city have partnered together to create an opportunity for economic growth using what once had been thought of as “wasteland”. The magnificent job done by EPA has created an industrial zone with opportunities for both small as well as extremely large commercial ventures.
