Webb City's Council is comprised of eight members split between four ward seats. The City Council maintains the legislative powers in Webb City government. Matters such as adoption of the budget, authorizing bond issues, the adoption of ordinances, and the confirmation of Mayoral appointments. The Council members serve a two-year term. The Mayor serves a four-year term.
The Webb City Council conducts regular meetings on two Mondays each month beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers in City Hall, 200 S. Main Street. Check the "Council Calendar" link for a complete calendar of Council meetings and work sessions.
While all meetings of the Webb City Council are open to the public, not all items on the agenda are open for public testimony. The consent agenda portion of the meeting consists of items which are generally non-controversial in nature and are usually approved by unanimous consent of the Council. Council members may ask to remove an item from the consent agenda for further discussion as a separate item.
Immediately following the Consent Agenda an open forum is held where individuals may speak for two minutes about an issue or concern.
Public hearings are held on issues requiring public input. Members of the public may approach the podium, state their full name and address, and state their question, comment, or opinion.
